Thomas Sowell Dismantles Egalitarianism (Frances Fox Piven Edition)

Thomas Sowell addresses the economic and personal sacrifices by identifying people in groups based on frivolous attributes such as skin pigment. How is skin color grouping any different than grouping people by hair color. The result is less individual motivation and increased political controversies. Unfortunately, the group these policies intend to help have resulted in even less favorable conditions than ever before.

In this clip from the 1980 Free To Choose, socialist Frances Fox Piven tangles with Milton Friedman and Thomas Sowell. Sowell, in particular, is incisive with his discussion of “process” versus aspiration — concluding that whatever the purported social goals, liberty suffers.
